Dr Debasis Acharya is an Associate Professor, Principal and Head of the Department, Geology at Stewart Science College, Cuttack, Odisha, India. He pursued MSc. from Berhampur University and PhD from Utkal University. His research interests are mainly on the “Economic Minerals: Its Exploitation and Impact on Environment”. He is commonly engaged in a Major Project by BARC (Bhaba Atomic Research Centre), Funded by BRNS (Board of Research on Nuclear Science). The topic for the Project is “Spatial Distribution of Uranium in Drinking Water of four Districts of Odisha”. He is also engaged in a Minor Project sponsored by UGC on “Thermal Springs and its Environmental Studies”. He is the Member of Board of Studies and of the Conducting Board at Utkal University. He is also a Member of the Board of Studies at the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha. He is the founder Member of SGAT (Society for Geologist and Allied Technology, Odisha). He had attended International Conference on “Environmental Studies” at Goa, Organised by TERI. He has completed two Minor Research Projects sponsored by UGC.
He is a lifetime member of EFSLE and he has also been appointed as one of the Executive Council Members (ECM) for its Odisha Region.
