Dr. Samipendra Banerjee is an assistant Professor at the department of English, University of Gour Banga, Malda, West Bengal. He has done his PhD from Visva Bharati on Historiography, Politics and Nationhood in the plays of Mahesh Dattani and Asif Currimbhoy. His chief interests include theatre and performance and gender studies. His articles have been published in several journals like Journal of Contemporary drama in English published from Berlin, Rupkatha Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies, Impressions, Literary Herald, Appropriations etc. In 2017, his paper on Contemporary Bengali theatre won an award for presentation at the annual IFTR conference at Sao Paulo, Brazil. He also regularly writes and directs plays performed by his students. He is one of the Coordinators of EFSLE from the West Bengal South Region.
