Dr Tasleem A War is Associate Professor in the Department of English, University of Kashmir, with fifteen years experience of teaching at the postgraduate level. Earlier he taught undergraduate students at Government Degree College, Pulwama and Government Degree College for Women, Nawakadal. He is the first to teach at the Department of English, South Campus, Anantnag in 2003-the year in which it was established and placed temporarily at Govt. Degree College, Anantnag, where he taught for three years. Besides having Master’s degree and UGC-NET in English, Dr.Tasleem also has M.A in Linguistics, Psychology and Philosophy alongwith UGC-NET in Linguistics. He has worked on Graham Greene for his doctoral degree. He has a number of national and international publications to his credit and has authored books like Approaching the End: Apocalyptic Vision in Graham Greene’s Select Novels (2012), Vignettes: Short Stories from Kashmir (2015) and Enmeshed Life:Translation of Akhtar Mohiuddin’s Novella from Kashmiri to English (2017). He has also presented papers in countries like U.S.A, Pakistan and Iran. He was also awarded two Postdoctoral Fellowships by OUCIP (Osmania University Centre for International programmes) in 2012 and UGC-Raman Postdoctoral Fellowship at Rice University, Houston, Texas, USA in 2013-14. The areas that he has been teaching are Linguistics, ELT, Communication Skills, Non-Fictional Prose and British Poetry. He has also been a guest lecturer in a number of departments in the university like Department of Computer Science, Department of Law, Department of Education and Department of Electronics and Communication where he taught Technical English, Legal English, English for B.ed students and Communicative English. Dr.Tasleem has produced 8 M.hil scholars so far and there are around half a dozen Ph.D scholars working under his supervision. He also co-guides scholars from Department of Linguistics and Iqbal Institute of Culture and Philosophy. He has also been holding the charge of Nodal Officer, DIQA for a long time and Academic Counsellor for CBCS since 2014.
He is a life member of EFSLE and he has also been appointed as the Joint Secretary of EFSLE for its Kashmir Region.
