Dr. Suresh Frederick serves as an Associate Professor of English at the School of SASHE, SASTRA Deemed to be University, Thanjavur, India, bringing over 35 years of dedicated teaching experience. He earned his M.A. (1988), M.Phil. (1990), Ph.D. (1999), and PGDJMC (1999), with specializations in Ecocriticism, Australian Literature, Existentialism, British Drama, Mass Communication, and ELT.
Throughout his career at Bishop Heber College (from 1990) and SASTRA (joined July 2025), he has guided 35 Ph.D. scholars (four ongoing) and 87 M.Phil. students. His scholarly contributions include 141 published papers, 91 presentations, and 21 edited books, such as Contemporary Contemplations of Ecoliterature (2012), Ecocriticism: Paradigms and Praxis (2019), Contemporary Contemplations on Green Literatures (2022), and Contemporary Contemplations on Science Fiction (2023).
Dr. Frederick has completed a UGC-sponsored minor project on violence in Tamil films and organized a national seminar on Nature in Literature (2007). He holds key roles as Vice President of OSLE and SELLTA, Life Member of IASA, Fellow of Eco-Ethics International Union (Germany), and memberships in The Andrew Marvell Society (UK) and others. With travels to Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Ireland, and Portugal, he has given 35 invited talks.
His honours encompass an Honorary DLitt from IICM (Florida, USA), Lifetime Achievement Award (2018) for guiding over 25 PhDs, multiple Best Researcher Awards (2020-2022), Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Best Teacher Award (2022), and Award of Eminence for administration (2024).
He is a lifetime member of EFSLE and also an Executive Council Member (ECM) of its North-Eastern Tamil Nadu Region of Tamil Nadu.
